Any high school age boy from any school is welcome to play Fall Baseball with the Dolphin Baseball Club. However, since this level of play is reasonably high, there is no guarantee that Juniors and Seniors will be automatically placed with older boys just because of their age. The coaching staff will decide a player's level. Safety is our paramount concern.
Our Fall program will be a mix of traditional baseball work combined with a scrimmage/game once a week.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday----start right after school---- 2:15-5:30----Then a Sunday afternoon 2 - 2 1/2 hour workout specifically with Coach Spedden and available coaches from the coaching staff.
Two groups: Older Boys (Varsity) will practice on Tuesday and Thursday. Younger Boys (JV) will practice on Mondays and Wednesdays. Both groups will practice on Sundays when Coach Spedden is available.
One of those weekdays for each group will be a “Scrimmage Day” and we will start approx 3:15 and go till 5:30. (Younger group may start and finish earlier to align with activity busses.)
By first week in November, we will have had virtually four times the amount of practice time, at bats, pitching innings, swings, throws, grounders and flies than we normally would receive in the traditional fall program----not to mention that we will have gotten the extra benefits of an additional two months of throwing and drills.
Coach Risney will coordinate the weekday sessions. Normal baseball practice gear will be required and attendance will be taken!
If you are currently a member of the Dolphin Baseball Club, then you can participate in the fall for a fee of $50. Non-members must bring a check for $65 made out to the Dolphin Baseball Club in order to become a club member. A current athletic physical is required!
Questions can be directed to Coach Risney at his email.
Please note that playing baseball for the Dolphin Baseball Club does not assure you of winning a position on the actual OLHS baseball team in the spring.
